February 1st 2007 - US Kids Golf has named Roger
Lundy, Academy Director for the Gongaware Indiana Junior Golf Academy, as one
of “Americas Top 50 Kids Teachers” for the second consecutive year. Lundy, in
his fourth year with the Academy, was the only Indiana Section PGA Member to be
recognized by US Kids Golf in 2006.
Lundy was recognized at a
ceremony at the 2007 PGA of America Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida on
January 25. A two-time Indiana Section Junior Leader Award Winner, Lundy stresses
more than just learning about golf in his Academy programs.
“Our victories come from
those who leave camp a better player and more importantly, a better person,” he
said. “The feedback we get on the latter part of that statement means more to
us than anything. We introduce like skills in all of our activities and stress
sportsmanship. Our instructors are to teach fun first and skill next,” he
added.
Academy camps have reached
100% capacity in each of the three seasons Lundy has been involved. Over 500
golfers from Indiana and the surrounding states will attend the Indiana Junior
Golf Academy in 2007. Lundy enters every camp session with a high level of
enthusiasm and excitement. “My favorite success story seems to happen
everyday,” he said. “When a student achieves something in regard to the game of
golf and improves as a person, we both have success.”
