Ball State Players Win Four Ball
May 22nd 2010 - Ball State University senior Eric Steger and former BSU player Kenny Cook ('03), both from Noblesville, teamed up for the first time to win the IGA Four Ball Championship. The pair met last summer at the US Amateur, where Steger made it to match play. Cook approached Steger at the national championship and asked to partner with him for the 36-hole, four ball formatted event at Wood Wind GC in Westfield, and the two found success together. "He made putts yesterday," explained Steger. "I made some long putts today and the first one really started things off for us." He sunk a long putt from the fringe at the 4th hole to get their momentum going. Cook added, "the greens are in great shape which helped the putts go in." The two did scramble to save a couple pars during the final round and let a bogey slip in the first day, but ended up at 63 both rounds for a 126 total. The next best teams of Jeff Smith and Pete Wojtowicz and Pete Delongchamp and Erik Barnes came in at 13-under 129.
