Fort Wayne Duo Leads Mid Am Team
April 17th 2011 -

Sam Till, Jr. and partner Marty Rifkin are leading the way in their hometown after the first round of the IGA Mid Am Team. They carded an even par 71 at Pine Valley Country Club in Fort Wayne Sunday during the alternate shot format. Despite a rough start of two bogeys out of their first three holes at 10 and 12, the twosome fought back and made three birdies on par 4’s.

Till has a record of success at Pine Valley. He won the Indiana PGA Senior Open in 2009 and finished runner-up at the 2008 Mid Amateur which were both contested there, and he holds a Pine Valley Senior Club Championship title.

Due to tough winds and speedy greens, no team was able to break par. The team of Andy Kelley and Brent Schmidt are in a close second at 72. And Chris Scheibert and Gordie Rees as well as Tracy Miller and Jason Christy are currently in third at 73.

The final round will be contested on Monday in a best ball format beginning at 9am. See the full results and final round pairings here.
