Husband and Wife Duo Qualify for National Mid Ams
September 12th 2011 -

Years after graduating from Ball State University, amateurs Kenny and Lisa Cook still have the skills and determination to compete at a high level. This summer they turned their competitive spirit and golfing ability into a rather unique accomplishment. They both took medalist honors in USGA Mid Am Qualifiers and advanced to their respective National Mid Amateur Championships.

On August 30th, Lisa shot 78 at Broadmoor CC in Indianapolis to advance. The very next day, Kenny fired a 67 at his qualifier at Heritage Club in Mason, Ohio, to win by five shots. “We feel that us both qualifying for USGA national tournaments in the same year is a possible unique situation,” said Kenny. “The only downfall is that they are both held during the same week so we will not be able to travel together and watch each other compete.”

The week of September 17-22, Lisa will travel to Bayville Golf Club in Virginia while Kenny will make his way to Shadow Hawk Golf Club in Texas.

Kenny was the 2010 IGA Four Ball champion with fellow Ball State alum Eric Steger, and Lisa was the 2010 IWGA Play Day runner-up behind Julie Carmichael.
