Mission / Goals
The Indiana Golf Foundation was established in 1994. The Foundation was the idea of the Indiana Golf Association and the Indiana Section PGA to promote and develop programs dedicated primarily to serving the youth within our state. Today’s youth, more than ever, need an opportunity to develop social skills, self-discipline, perseverance, patience, competitiveness, sportsmanship and fair play. The game of golf gives them an opportunity to learn these skills and more.
Current Foundation programs include:
- The Gongaware Indiana Junior Golf Academy provides junior golfers the opportunity to learn the game of golf with professional instruction through multiple-day camps during the summer.
- The Indiana Junior Golf Program is a series of over 65 competitive events involving over 1,700 Indiana Junior Golfers.
- Scholarships for high school seniors who have participated on the junior golf tour. Recipients are chosen on their academics and leadership abilities, not on their golf accomplishments.
- Educational Programs including rules and etiquette clinics at various sites around the state.
- Scholarship Seminars for junior golfers and their parents to assist with the development and completion of a resume to secure college scholarships.
- Hall of Fame This institution preserves the past by recognizing those who have given generously of their talent and service to the betterment of golf in Indiana.
Mission:
Golf has had a profound impact on your life, and has taught you things that have helped you reach the level of success you now enjoy; things like social skills, self-discipline, perseverance, patience, competitiveness, sportsmanship and, most of all, fair play. Today’s youth, more than ever, need an opportunity to develop those same skills that you developed years ago through the game of golf.
Goals:
- To provide an organized, competitive opportunity for junior golfers.
- To provide deserving youth an opportunity to continue their education.
- To afford young people the opportunity to learn this most challenging of games and its inherent lessons about life.
- To provide playing opportunities to those who otherwise would not have the opportunity to benefit from this enriching game.
