PGA Career Services is pleased to announce the addition of Todd Smith, PGA to the team of 18 Career Consultants that serve PGA Members and employers nationwide. In serving both the Indiana and Michigan PGA Sections, Smith will join the other 17 field consultants across the country to forge stronger relationships through the overall smaller geographic territories that each Consultant manages.
He previously served as District 6 Director on the National PGA Board of Directors, where he was chairman of the Member Championships Committee. Smith has served as a Board Member of the Indiana PGA Section and the Indiana Golf Foundation. In addition, he was President of the Indiana PGA Section from 1999-2000, and has served in all Section governance chairs. He was the 2001 Indiana PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year and the Section’s 2014 Bill Strausbaugh Award winner. Smith was inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame in 2004.
Smith holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Auburn University, where he competed for the Tigers Golf Team and earned All-SEC honors twice.
Smith began his PGA of America career as an Assistant Golf Professional at The Hoosier Links in New Palestine, IN, working for Don Essig III. Three years later, Smith became the PGA Head Golf Professional at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Indiana. In 1993, Smith went to work at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana, to manage the grow-in process of a new facility. Rock Hollow opened for play in 1995, and Smith has managed the entire operation ever since. Rock Hollow has hosted two Indiana Opens, one Indiana Men’s Amateur, one Indiana Women’s Amateur, more than 30 Indiana PGA Section events and 15 Indiana PGA Junior events.
Smith lives in Peru, Ind., with his wife, Claire. He has two grown children. Todd’s son, Brad, and his wife, Carmen, have three children. Brad is the Assistant Men’s Golf Coach at The Ohio State University. Smith’s daughter, Erin, is a Women’s Denim Merchant for American Eagle Outfitters.
