A Personal Best
July 14th 2009 - A personal record 67 for Brittany Kelly of Fishers at Otter Creek G.C. moved her from ninth to first after the second round of the Women's State Am. A four-under 32 on the front started her day off well, and she held on to card 35 on the back. "I didn't get ahead of myself today," she said. "I got in a few sandtraps but was able to get up and down, versus yesterday when I kept two-putting." Before Tuesday's round, her personal best was a 69 at Brickyard Crossing in a collegiate event, or 68 at Stoney Creek G.C. in a high school tournament.

Kelly won the 2006 Indiana Women's Open, and has won two collegiate events as a member of Ball State's team, but this would be her first State Amateur victory. Also contending for her first title is 2009 Girl's State Junior winner Taylor Gohn of Columbus, currently in third after 72-77-149. Two-time defending champion Julia Potter of Granger sits in the runner-up position at 73-74-147.

After 36 holes the players were flighted, and any player with a two-day total of 158 or better qualified for the Championship Flight.

Final round tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. See pairings here.
