Second Win for Palmer
May 19th 2009 -

Todd Palmer (a) of Fishers maintained his lead throughout the final round of the E-Z-GO Indianapolis Open to get his second win of the 2009 season. His first came at the IGA Mid Am Team with partner Curt Puckett April 26-27. Palmer struck the ball decently, but the strength of his game was on the greens. “I hit to the safe side of the greens a lot,” he said. “I never lost the lead, so if nobody was making a lot of birdies I was going to keep playing conservative.”

Palmer’s conservative strategy led to a second day score of 71 that held off runner-up Andrew Frandsen (a) of Lebanon who shot 72-73=145. “I knew I was in the hunt if I just kept grinding,” said Frandsen. “I played well at times, but I couldn’t get anything really going.”

John Dal Corobbo of Prairie View G.C. did get his game going for a final round 71 and a 146 total to take top Professional honors.
