Steger at US Am
August 26th 2009 - Eric Steger of Noblesville fired rounds of 72-71=143 at the 109th U.S. Amateur Championship at Southern Hills CC in Oklahoma to take the 9th seed heading into Wednesday's match play. He faced 56th seed Dodge Kemmer of Wichita, Kansas in the Round of 64 where he was defeated 6 & 5. Full match results can be seen here.

Steger's success in Indiana began in the Pepsi Junior Golf Program and continued in 2009 when he won the IGA Public Links and the Match Play Championship. He is a member of Ball State University men's golf team and the son of PGA Professional Scott Steger.

Fellow Hoosier junior golfer James Sacheck, now a Texas resident, qualified for the 8th seed and faced off against Peter Uihlein of Florida in the first round. Uihlein won in 19 holes.
