Till Holds On To Lead
August 14th 2009 - Sam Till of Fort Wayne held on to his lead at the IGA Mid Am Championship with a round of 1-under-par 70 to claim victory at Hillcrest CC August 14. Todd Palmer of Fishers challenged Till in the beginning when he birdied number 2 after sticking his approach to four feet to share the lead. Then it was runner-up Terry Werner of Dyer who battled it out with Till the rest of the day. On the tenth hole, Werner stuck his approach to five feet and made birdie to come within one shot of the lead. Then at the eleventh hole Till made bogey and followed it with a double at the twelfth hole when he put his tee shot in the water. Werner took advantage of the opportunity and took the lead, but only for a few holes. Till reclaimed the tournament on 16 and held on through 17 and 18 for the win.
