State Championships

Eligibility

The Indiana Junior Championships are open to any junior golfer who is a resident of Indiana and whose home course is a dues paying member of the IGA-PGA. Junior golfers who are participating on the Prep Tour, Junior Tour or Masters Tour may sign up for these Championships in addition to their regular Tour events. All Championship event entries are processed in the order they are received.

92nd Boys State Junior Championship

The Boys State Junior Championship will be held June 27-July 1 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville. It is open to any male resident who has not yet reached his 20th birthday as of July 1, 2017. High School graduates are eligible for tournament play only during the summer following their senior year.

67th Girls State Junior Championship

The Girls State Junior Championship will be held on June 5-7, 2017 at Anderson Country Club in Anderson. It is open to any female resident who has not yet reached her 20th birthday as of June 7, 2017. High School graduates are eligible for tournament play only during the summer following their senior year.

Hoosier Junior Championship

The Hoosier Junior Championship is a regional junior golf championship hosted by the Indiana Golf Foundation each October. This Championship is designed for high-level junior golfers and is open to players throughout the country between the ages of 14-19 who have not graduated from high school as of the tournament dates. The Hoosier Junior Championship is nationally ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and earns AJGA exemptions. The Championship is hosted by Otter Creek GC in Columbus, IN and offers a strong test played at 7,000 yards for boys and 6,000 yards for girls.

Started in 2008, the Hoosier Junior has become a premier fall junior golf event in the Midwest and boasts a strong list of former competitors and Champions.

Registration for the Hoosier Junior is tiered, with reserved spots for "invited” players and early registration dates for players meeting certain criteria with their play throughout the year. Several spots are reserved each year for non-Indiana residents. Below are the requirements for a player to be "invited":

  • Current Year Indiana State Junior Championship Champion, Runner-up & Medalist
  • Current Year Indiana Section PGA Junior Championship Champion & Runner up
  • Current Year Indiana Age Group Championship Champions (Ages 14-18)
  • Current Year Junior Tour Points Champions
  • Current Year Masters Tour Top-10 Boys & Top-6 Girls on Points List
  • ​Current Year US Junior Am Qualifiers

Age Group Championship

The 2017 Age Group Championship will be held at the Swan Lake Resort on July 5-6, 2017. The Championship is open to any Indiana resident who is between the ages of 11-18 as of July 6, 2017. No player under the age of 11 is eligible. The Age Group Championship is a two-day, 36 hole, stroke play event. Players will compete in Age Groups against only players that are the same age. The Age Group Championship is the largest single-site individual golf tournament in Indiana.


Indiana Junior PGA Championship

The 2017 Indiana Junior PGA Championship will be split up, meaning Boys and Girls will no longer play on the same date or same site moving forward.

The Girls Indiana Junior PGA Championship held at Honeywell GC, in Wabash on June 20-21, 2017. This event serves as a qualifier for the National Junior PGA Championship. The qualifier is played in age divisions: 16-18 and 13-15. However, the PGA does not restrict younger players from playing "up" into the 13-15 division.. All 13-18 year olds will play the same set of tees and are all eligible to qualify for the National Championship. This is a 36 hole event.

The Boys Indiana Junior PGA Championship held at The Fort GC, in Lawrence on July 12-13, 2017. This event serves as a qualifier for the National Junior PGA Championship. The qualifier is played in age divisions: 16-18 and 13-15. However, the PGA does not restrict younger players from playing "up" into the 13-15 division.. All 13-18 year olds will play the same set of tees and are all eligible to qualify for the National Championship. This is a 36 hole event with a cut being made after the first round.

Boys Team Championship

The Boys Team Championship will be held on a July 30, 2017 at Harrison Hills G&CC in Attica. Age Divisions are 13-15 and 16-19. The format of this event is Four Ball Stroke Play. Players may choose to partner with someone in a different age group, however, the team will compete in the division of the oldest player.


Girls Team Championship

The Girls Team Championship will be held on May 21, 2017 at Anderson CC in Anderson. Age Divisions are 12 & Under, 13-15 and 16-19. The format of this event is Four Ball Stroke Play. Players may choose to partner with someone in a different age group, however, the team will compete in the division of the oldest player. The 12 & Under division will play a 9-hole event.
