Indiana Golf Association

USGA Men's State Team

This is your chance to represent the Hoosier state on the national scene. The Indiana Golf Association will send a team to each USGA Men's State Team. Any male Indiana amateurs, who are not collegiate athletes, have a chance to earn a spot on the team and participate in a national championship! This event is held every two years and team-member selections are based on the previous two seasons’ tournament points. Due to USGA scheduling changes, Indiana’s 2010 team will consist of the top three point earners from the 2009 State Amateur through the 2010 State Amateur only. For 2012 the normal system will again be used, with points from the previous two seasons counting.

Points can be earned by playing in these tournaments:

            IGA State Amateur

            IGA Mid Amateur

            IGA Senior Amateur

            IGA Match Play

            IGA Senior Match Play

            IGA Four Ball

            PGA Indianapolis Open

            PGA Northern Open

            PGA Southern Open

            PGA Monticello Open

            PGA Indiana Open

USGA Qualifiers for a national competition:

                        US Open

                        US Senior Open

                        US Amateur

                        US Mid Amateur

                        US Senior Amateur

                        US Public Links

After the completion of the IGA season, eligible players who have earned the most points and a spot on the team will be contacted. The IGA arranges and covers the cost of travel (mileage or airfare when relevant), hotel accommodations, a rental car for the team, and logo uniform shirts. Dinners, welcome receptions and practice rounds occur the few days prior to the start of play. Details on the expenses and itinerary are available closer to the date of the championship.
