July 18th, 2019

After a final round 1-under-par, 71, Faith Johnson is the 69th Indiana Girls State Junior Champion at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club. She posted rounds of 77, 74 and 71 to defeat Nathaly Munnicha by two shots.

Johnson entered the final round trailing Munnicha by four strokes. She got off to a quick start with birdies on the first and third holes to quickly close the gap and was tied for the lead with Munnicha and Angelica Pfefferkorn after three holes.

Pfefferkorn took the lead after a birdie on the fourth hole and still held a one-shot lead over Johnson when the leaders made the turn.

After a double-bogey on the 10th hole, Johnson found herself three shots behind Pfefferkorn. However, birdies from Johnson on 12 and 13 accompanied by a double bogey from Pfefferkorn at No. 12 vaulted Johnson into a one-shot lead on the 14th tee.

Johnson played the last five holes in even par with a birdie on the par 5, 16th followed by a bogey on the par 3, 17th. She went to the 18th tee leading Munnicha by two strokes and made a par two secure the 2019 Indiana Girls State Junior Championship.

Chloe Johnson, Angelica Pfefferkorn, Katelyn Kuc, and Madison Dabagia rounded out the top 5.
